Mouthy Ltd cookies and similar technologies policy

Last updated: 13 March 2024

PLEASE READ THIS POLICY CAREFULLY BEFORE USING MOUTHY LTD’S WEBSITE.

  • This Cookie Policy explains how Mouthy Ltd (“Mouthy”) uses cookies and similar technologies, which are small files or pieces of text that download to a device when a visitor accesses a website or app (such as pixel tags or web beacons), to recognise you when you visit our website at www.getmouthy.co.uk. The policy explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your choices with respect to them.

Some cookies or similar technologies that we use through the websites will collect personal information about you, or information that becomes personal information if we combine it with other data. Any personal information that we collect will be used in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

If you do not consent to the use of cookies on our website you may disable them following the instructions below or by changing your browser settings so that cookies from our website cannot be placed on your device (usually found in a ‘settings’ menu in your particular browser).

  • More specifically, cookies are small pieces of information, normally consisting of just letters and numbers, which online services provide when users visit them. Software on the user’s device (web browser) can store cookies and send them back to the website next time they visit. Cookies are a specific technology that store information between website visits. They are used for various purposes, such as remembering what’s in a shopping basket when shopping for goods online, supporting users to log in to a website, analysing traffic to a website, and tracking users’ browsing behaviour.

Cookies can be useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device. They are widely used in order to make websites work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site. Without cookies, or some other similar method, websites may have no way to ‘remember’ anything about visitors, such as how many items are in a shopping basket or whether they are logged in. There are some other technologies, similar to cookies, which can also identify and ‘remember’ website visitors. These include, for example, using certain characteristics to identify devices (device fingerprinting), using scripts, tracking pixels, plugins and social media buttons.

  • We use first party and third party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our website to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” or “strictly necessary” cookies. For instance, using a first party cookie is necessary for you to reset your password. Third party cookies help Mouthy to create a more favourable marketing experience. For example, we place a third party cookie when you sign up to receive a marketing resource from our resource page. After placing the cookie, you would then be able to download additional Mouthy content without having to re-enter your information. This is described in more detail below.

  • Some cookies and similar technologies, particularly those that track users’ browsing behaviour across the web are perceived by data protection regulators as privacy-intrusive.

  • These are cookies that are required for the operation of the website and include technologies that help us save your cookies preference and keep our website secure. Strictly necessary cookies are ‘on’ by default and we use them on the basis of our legitimate interests. All other cookies are ‘off’ by default so we will seek your permission to use them.

  • These allow us to recognise and count and number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. This helps us to improve the way the website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.

  • These are used to recognise users when they return to our website and to provide various functionalities. This enables us to, for example, personalise content for them and remember their preferences.

  • These cookies record users’ visits to our website, the pages users have visited and the links users have followed. We will use this information to make our website and the advertising displayed on it more relevant to user interests. In aggregate form this information is usually shared with third parties for the purpose of advertising.

  • Currently we do not have our own cookies embedded in the website; however, third parties that are embedded in the website, including our hosting platform Squarespace, use cookies. Please see the cookies policies below of the third parties you will have access to through the website.

    Squarespace

For information about viewing the cookies dropped on your device, visit The cookies Squarespace uses.

When you make a purchase from us on this website, we use Squarespace Payments as our payment solution. Squarespace Payments is a fully integrated, native payment solution provided to us by our online store service provider Squarespace. Squarespace Payments makes use of the following third party service providers which also use cookies and similar technologies to collect and process your information, in accordance with their respective cookies policies:

    Typeform

Typeform, a third-party service provider we use to create surveys and conduct our market research surveys, also uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and process survey responses. You can review Typeform’s cookie policy here: www.admin.typeform.com/to/dwk6gt/.

  • Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called “tags,” “tracking pixels'' or “clear gifs”). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our website. This allows us, for example, to monitor user traffic patterns on our website, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand how you arrived at our website (e.g. from an online advertisement or search engine), and to measure the success of our marketing programs (e.g. email marketing campaigns). In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies and web beacons to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.

Similar to how we use third-party cookies, we currently do not have our own tracking technologies embedded in the website. Please refer to the cookies policies of the third parties you will have access to through the website to review what other tracking technologies these third-parties embed in our website, listed in the section above.

  • Under certain global privacy laws, individuals have rights over the way that cookies are used. In some countries, such as those in the European Union, individuals have to “opt-in” to the use of cookies other than those that are “strictly necessary”.

In other countries, such as the States of California and Virginia in the United States, individuals have the right to “opt-out” from the use of cookies for targeted or cross-contextual behavioural advertising and the sale or sharing of personal information.

You can choose to block cookies by activating the settings on your browser that allow you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) used by the third parties listed above you may not be able to access parts of the website. Your browser settings also allow you to delete all cookies stored on your device whenever you wish.

The UK Information Commissioner’s Office has provide the following guidance on controlling cookies:

If you are concerned about online tracking then we can recommend you:

  • We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
